A hectic day for the Long family.
I had an appointment with the dermatologist early in the morning, and only managed a few hours of sleep because I was so drawn into the drama of the Walker family on Brothers and Sisters, I only went to bed at 4am. I had just commented to my mom that all that drama was unrealistic, though she insists that my family can rival them in that department. More on that another time.
On the way home from the hospital, I had the bright idea of keeping a backup of pa's contacts. Ended up disastrously deleting all of his Outlook contacts and appointments on his phone, after spending 2 hours downloading the programs, of course.
Elizabeth came back all upset, the poor thing, as she was not assigned to a Science class. My heart really goes out to her. I know disappointment, believe me. Hopefully the principal will come through on this, and my dad can help with the process.
To top today off, I actually drove to the club today, all by myself. I am still damn stressed out while driving. The anxiety got to me so bad I had a headache. Had a pretty solitary swim, as the instructor was not present today. The pool was eerily quiet, where just a week ago it was filled with noisy splashes and the happy and/or terrified shrieks of kids on their school holidays. I love being in the pool sometimes. I feel ironically cleansed floating in all that cool blue.
Oh I was presented with a gift from Cookie today. She ran off on one of her escapades to the abandoned house opposite our compound and came back mewing later, begging to be let in through the dining room sliding windows. She brought back supper, and kindly deposited it outside the house before stepping through the grill. The Princess found a Frog. Urgh.

Starbucks and Laptops
I'm sitting in TC Starbucks now, facing Elizabeth. We both have our laptops open, my father's my new purple Dell Inspiron 14 and my Baby's pink Sony Vaio VGN-C13. I love our time together like this, though she is frowning away, as I bug her to help me with Html codes and to start her own blog as well. I remember playing chess here with her till closing time once. Good times, though I suck at the game.
When I was her age, you would be hard pressed to find a Starbucks in JB, let alone the air-conditioned kopitiams/cafes that proliferate the city now. I like having a place to sit back, people-watch, and do my own thing at the same time, even though it can be rather difficult to find a place to park my flat butt sometimes. Someday, maybe not anytime soon, but someday, I'd like to fulfill that childhood dream of owning a bookstore cum coffeehouse. Then Elizabeth and I can spend the day there playing chess. Assuming that I'm not working at the time, of course.

Happy New Year!
Here's to a brand spanking new year! 2010, I welcome you with big open arms, shaky though they may be. Goodbye dreary 2009, hello new everything - career, friends, and hopefully a new house as well!
2010 heralds new beginnings, and it all starts with me. Time for a major overhaul of mind, body, and soul. I have been mulling over resolutions and goals for the past few days, and blogging is, once again, on the list.
Watch out world, here I come.
